This image by Richard Hogg is how I think most of us would respond to this NY Times article from a couple of weeks ago. What do you think?

Sean, who’s future is so bright he needs to wear three pairs of sunglasses, knows what in means to have Christmas spirit. Here he is thinking about how wonderful it would be to be able to sit on Santa’s lap and whisper wishes into his ear everyday of the year. Oh yeah the glasses are on sale too.

Ecstatic Cinematic

Of course we have top billing.

Last night 21st Avenue Bicycles hosted its first movie premiere, Brian Vernor’s The Meeting, at the Clinton St Theater. I have to say that it was a great event and I can say that because I feel that I am the arbiter of all things great and wonderful, at least in the personal sense. New Belgium Brewing sponsored the event with three kegs, two were their Ranger IPA and one keg of Fat Tire Ale, these three wise men definitely did their part in spreading mirth and merriment through the crowd. When asked what direction he thinks the national scene is heading, Barry Wicks response was that “there is a constant dynamic between it being cool to be fast and drinking beer and having fun. ” Well Barry I think we were able to synthesize the two extremes last night as attendees where thrashing themselves in an all out beer drinking sprint to the end of the kegs.

Not to be out done Chris King laid kept the cinematic hordes at bay with a generous donation of hats, water bottles, and the new Cielo socks. There is only triumph in catching tossed swag and from the stage I could see only victors and yet these were only the warm up and or cool down for the main event, pages and squires of the would be king.

The Meeting is a beautifully shot and crafted film that combines the eye of a plein air artist with the pacing and drive of a knowing sportsman. After each showing the crowd buzzed with murmurs of an impromptu CX race just outside of theater, inspired as such was the crowd. It was only the pleading and coercion of the three wise kegs that brought everyone to their senses. My guess is that the adolescent typhoon raging outside the theater also had something to do with the decision to decline competition. Brian, Barry and Adam led a titillating Q&A, the sea of hands reminiscent of a recent Rage Against the Machine youtube visit. Except the gentleman on our stage where able to answer questions about sport and art and not just spit high energy liberal vitriol.

I want to thank everyone for coming out and sharing in a wonderful evening. We are looking forward to hosting a selection of vintage cycling films at the store in the new year. Keep an eye on this space

If you are reading this then you are already a little familiar with the wonderful world of computers. Imagine if you could shrink down your home computer take away 99.9% of its capability but add new and amazing things like the ability to count mileage, elevation, heart rate, time(ok your computer can probably do that) and more, not to mention that having a computer on your bike sends a message. The message, “like it or not I am keeping track.” Don’t delay on the 10th of December the future goes on sale

Yesterday James Wilson, Jonas Greene, and Samuel Robertson took time out of busy schedule to film a couple of 21st shorts. What are they about? Us doing what we do best… Making it awesome. Thanks guys. You kill it. They will post them here when they are finished. Stay tuned.

Sean Light… Mr. Excitement.

Jonas and Samuel

James behind the camera helping us look sweet.

Our customer was played by the one…. the only… the crusher…. Steve Gitchell.
Why Kyle is ditching this sweet Dura Ace group for 105, I will never know.

When I was young and I wore a necklace, a heart shape that opened up to reveal a picture of a young Candice Bergen. That was a locket and the idea was it kept a dream trapped on a leash around my neck. These are locks and much like the lockets they keep your dream (read bike) bound to you. Get in the shop, buy a lock, sleep well.

Hot or Cold gloves are a good idea, correction gloves are a GREAT idea. Aside from strict cycling they are helpful for starting duels, yard work, working out with barbells, video games, playing an 80′s inner city gang member, impersonating the hamburger helper mascot, and countless others.

Our ability to use tools is what separates us humans from most of the other animals out there, the time is nigh to lose the nickname Trilobite and step out of the stone age. We have tools, they are on sale, do yourself the favor, because if you don’t do it for your self no one else will.

Properly inflated tires make for a fast riding bicycle. On the fifth you have the chance to inflate both your tires and your ego while at the same time showing your consumer savvy in this strapped economy
