VeloDirt - Updated 2013 Calendar

Ok folks, this is it - we’ve finalized the calendar for 2013. Things worked out great last year so we’re sticking with the same general schedule:

Dalles Mountain 60 – March 9

This is the event that started it all and that’s part of the reason we continue to do it. The other reason it that it’s a great early season ride and a good introduction to those interested in trying their hand at grinding some gravel. It will be run exactly the same as prior years - same route, same start, etc. The only big difference is that access to the Maryhill Loops is potentially compromised. Access it at your own risk - as with everything we do, we take no responsibility whatsoever for anything you do…

You can click here for all the details. For those that haven’t ridden it, it’s very low key, we don’t keep track of times or anything. Just show up and ride.

The Rapture – May 4

Once again we rented the pavilion at the Flying-M-Ranch. There will be camping and beer again this year. The pavilion is being rented courtesy of Wabi Woolens. Beer and (hopefully) grillables/food are being provided courtesy of 21st Avenue Bikes. We encourage you to return the favor and support these two awesome local businesses.

I’ll get details up sometime soon-ish, but very little will change from prior years. You can search the web for write-ups if you’re itching for more details. There will be no registration, signup, etc. this year. Just show up and ride.

The Oregon Stampede – June 1

We’ll be running the Stampede in the early summer again, same as last year. Hopefully we can snag some of that perfect weather from last year. More details will be posted sometime in the next month or two, but as usual, expect more of the same. You can get route details here, or search the web for write-ups from others.

I’ll organize group camping again but it’s unlikely we’ll do any sort of registration this year. Show up, ride your bike, take care of your own shit, have fun…

Name TBD - Date TBD

I haven’t set a date for this, but expect it to go down sometime in September or October. Expect it to conflict with cross season. So be it. Expect it to be hard. I’m not down for making things hard just for the sake of being hard, but the route will circumnavigate Mount Hood mostly on dirt. It’ll be around 180 miles with a shit-ton of climbing. We’ll set a date soon, but we won’t have the final details together for a few more months since most of the route is covered in snow right now. This will be our little experiment to see if there is any demand in Oregon for something really truly big. And no, skinny tires won’t make it on this one, I promise.

About Our “Rides”

As a reminder, these aren’t bike races. They aren’t real bike events. They are completely unsupported and unsanctioned bike rides – we come up with a route, you come ride it if you want. There are no entrance fees, no prizes and while we generally keep track of folks times, we don’t really care whether you choose to ride it as fast as you can or enjoy a leisurely day out with your friends.
