Everyone loves the Surly Cross Check. At least everyone who works here and a good slice of the general Portland cycling public.
In anticipation of the upcoming cyclocross race season we decided to build up a more race-ready version of the bike than the stock offering from Surly. This custom 54cm bike is ready for someone around 5′ 7″-5’10.”
Integrated SRAM shifting, Paul Brakes and folding Vittoria Tires are the standouts here. And just for kicks, we built it on a Dark Blue frame just ’cause Surly doesn’t offer a geared complete in this color. To round out the package, we selected a good blend of durable and affordable parts. We came up with a solid, good looking build for the (we think) rather reasonable price of $1500. Ready for CX race season and whatever general mayhem you’re into.
