Wearing a helmet is good for you, good for you in the eat your greens, wear your seat belt, go to bed early, get some exercise mode. Yes wearing a helmet squarely falls in the do what your mother told you to do category. Here is the bush, I am going to stop beating around it, wearing a helmet has never been considered cool. Smart? Yes. Cool? No. Helmets are big plastic buckets that ride on the top of you head, hiding your well worked hairstyle, throwing your beautiful face out of proportion. I used to tell people when they came into the shop looking for helmets to remember that when they try the helmets on its not going to be a flattering experience. “Folks you are not going to wear these helmets out to dinner or walking through the park on a date.” Things though are looking up. Helmet makers are listening, check out the new Giro Reverb. These helmets are pretty cool, maybe not date walk cool but I think they are cool enough that some people might reconsider wearing helmets. Vintage inspired, slim fitting, light weight, with cool colors. Check, Check, Check, and Check. I like you, we like you, you are a smart, amazing, hilarious person. I want you to stay that way so wear a helmet.
